X.X.X. Uncensored Review: The latest ALTBalaji web series delivers what it promises

ALTBalaji is known for its edgy content. It all started with web series like Ragini MMS Returns, which was the streaming platform’s first erotic horror. Later on, ALTBalaji launched the web series Gandii Baat, which was an erotic web series based in rural India. Now, ALTBalaji has announced X.X.X. Uncensored, an anthology of erotic stories based in urban India. Here’s our complete review.

Breathe free – that’s the one thing ALTBalaji allows its content to. In an era when more and more content producers are becoming open about the everyday stories that are as controversial as they are general. Director Ken Ghosh makes great use of all the freedom that the streaming platforms offer – and creates an erotic, engaging experience. Let’s be frank, the stories are nothing great, the performances aren’t award worthy, but the very fact that actors have decided to do such a bold series tells us that they are finally opening to the streaming networks.

What’s Wow: The stories are funny, quirky. Something that audiences would have read in the smut books available in the 90s. Those books are long gone, but the demand for stories that these books had is still there – and that’s what ALTBalaji is looking to capture. This is a bold web series, there are no two ways about it – so don’t go looking for some intense portrayals or deep story lines. That’s not to say that erotic stuff can’t have that.

What’s Blah: At some level, X.X.X. Uncensored is the purveyor of the B grade of streaming. We do have a B grade of Bollywood – fly by night directors and a little-known actors churning out erotic stuff. Whether the audiences and the industry are ready for B grade of streaming remains to be seen.

Parting Shot: X.X.X. Uncensored gives what it promises – Indian erotica that’s choreographed superbly.

Amazon Prime membership has exceeded 100 million paid Prime members worldwide, Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO, Amazon stated this in a media interaction.  The actual number of Prime subscribers has never been revealed before, thus making space for a lot of speculation. In contrast to Amazon 100 million figures, Netflix has 125 million subscribers.

While Netflix continuously adds a lot of varied titles, Amazon Prime Video too has been testing new waters of late. Amazon Prime Video added shows such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the Oscar-nominated movie The Big Sick. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel grabbed the Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy title at the 75th Golden Globes Awards. Besides this, it has been collaborating with many Indian stand-up artists as well. It recently launched its first unscripted series in India – The Remix.

Besides this, Amazon Prime Video is also looking at releasing season 2 of Inside Edge this year. TheDigitalHash.com has already reported that around 26 million people watch content through Amazon’s Prime Video service in USA, making it one of the largest streaming video services in the world, behind only YouTube and Netflix.
