Amazon Prime makes a series of popular movies "The Purge"

The transmission platform Amazon Prime has announced a new web series The Purge, based on the famous movie franchise of the same name. The series, like the film, takes place in an authoritarian America where, every year, citizens enjoy a period of 12 hours to commit a crime and will not be prosecuted as this would be legal.

The series will air on the platform on September 5.

Amazon Prime membership exceeds the 100 million mark

Amazon Prime membership has exceeded 100 million paid Prime members worldwide, Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO, Amazon stated this in a media interaction.  The actual number of Prime subscribers has never been revealed before, thus making space for a lot of speculation. In contrast to Amazon 100 million figures, Netflix has 125 million subscribers.

While Netflix continuously adds a lot of varied titles, Amazon Prime Video too has been testing new waters of late. Amazon Prime Video added shows such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the Oscar-nominated movie The Big Sick. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel grabbed the Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy title at the 75^th Golden Globes Awards. Besides this, it has been collaborating with many Indian stand-up artists as well. It recently launched its first unscripted series in India – The Remix.

Besides this, Amazon Prime Video is also looking at releasing season 2 of Inside Edge this year.
